Yellow Pages Group

Yellow Pages Group (YPG) is the largest publisher of printed directories in Canada. The company celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2008, and produces more than 340 Yellow PagesTM and residential directories every year.

With a circulation of approximately 30 million copies, Yellow Pages Group reaches 97% of the Canadian population. The company is the official publisher for Bell Canada, TELUS, and other telephone companies such as Allstream, Videotron and Télébec.

Yellow Pages Group also publishes independent directories in selected markets in the Northeast and Southeast United States. The company conducts its publishing activities under the Your Community Phonebook brand.

Yellow Pages Group also publishes YellowPages.ca and Canada411.ca, the most visited online directories in Canada, in addition to the CanadaPlus.ca network. These sites attract more than 11 million unique visitors every month. The company also owns and manages YourCommunity.com.

In 2009 and 2010, YPG purchased several print and electronic publishers such as 411.ca and its main competitor: Canpages (who had bought ziplocal.ca and ypOne directories Ontario in 2009). YPG has continued to transition into the web industry with the acquisition of Clear Sky Media, owner of RedFlagDeals.com, a leading aggregator of discounts and coupons on the Web and mobile devices as well as restaurantica.com, one of the fastest growing restaurants locators in Canada.

Partnerships with Yahoo! and Google

On March 1, 2009, Yellow Pages Group signed a syndicated content agreement with Yahoo!, so now sponsored links appearing on yellowpages.ca come from yahoo.ca.

When a user searches with keywords that do not relate to a company (e.g., Barack Obama), search results will be provided by Yahoo! This new partnership agreement replaces the syndicated content agreement that Yellow Pages Group had previously with Google.

The agreements signed by Yellow Pages Group and Google for licensed data, licensed content and Google reseller are still in force.
